About Footsteps
  • Janet qualified as a reflexologist with the British School of Reflexology in 1993, after extensive training with Ann Gillanders
  • She ran a very successful practice in the north of England and taught Reflexology for various colleges around the UK for several years
  • Janet has worked with cancer patients in the UK and set up a working team of reflexologists in a local hospice. She also spent many days offering reflexology treatments to raise money for Mencap and the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Organization, both in the UK
  • Over the years, Janet has treated hundreds of patients with Reflexology, ranging from new born babies through to seniors, giving relief to sufferers from many conditions such as migraines, sinusitis, insomnia, PMS and digestive disorders
  • She now runs a very busy practice in an East York location in Toronto and has worked with the Interstitial Cystitis support group based at Women's College in Toronto
  • In 2003 she opened Footsteps Reflexology School which offers Reflexology Diploma courses and many general interest courses
  • Janet is continually looking at new opportunities to educate people in the benefits of Reflexology and continues to hold talks and workshops for community programmes

Janet Williams, School Director of Footsteps As the director of the school, Janet is committed to sharing her wealth of knowledge and extensive experience in Reflexology. Her constant effort in supporting her students to experience and master the healing power of one of the safest complementary therapies, has brought her international recognition.
  • Janet runs the Teacher Training Programme by instructing and guiding the new teachers through the learning and evaluation process
  • All courses are run in small groups to enhance individual learning
  • All course materials, including work study manual and foot chart are included in course fees
  • Training can be carried out on your own premises if required, eg. spa, wellness or healing clinic
  • All courses are scheduled to run several times during the year both on weekdays and weekends - for current dates, please check with course schedule

Teaching Staff

Joanne MacFarlane

Joanne MacFarlane graduated from Footsteps Reflexology School in June of 2006. She then continued her training by taking Advanced and Hand Reflexology. She has recently finished her Teacher Training, again with Footsteps, in order to teach reflexology. She is a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Joanne has always had a keen interest in alternative and complementary holistic health practices. Since the inception of her business, Shu Ha Ri reflexology, Etc., Joanne has trained in and added Reiki, Clinical Aromatherapy, Auricular Acupuncture, Detox and Cosmetic Acupuncture to the practice of Reflexology. She is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Reflexology Practitioners; an association who is working diligently to have private insurance companies cover the costs of therapeutic reflexology treatment.
