Footsteps School of Reflexology offers an extensive choice of courses aiming at a wide variety of students in: Toronto and Oshawa, Ontario, Summerside PEI, Halifax Nova Scotia and St. Johns Newfoundland.
The 300-hr Diploma course is aimed at:
From January 2017 Footsteps will be offering, as well as the 300 hr Diploma course, a 500 hr Diploma course which will include the current 300 hr and an extra 200 hrs. The extra hours will be made up of 100 Acupressure, 30 Nutrition, 60 Reiki and 10 Business.
Students will have the choice of registering for either certification, the extra 200 hours will not be mandatory yet. However, if we are to stand beside all the other modalities available and demonstrate that we are professional and seeking acceptance by the insurance companies, employers and eventually the federal and provincial regulators, we have to keep lifting our status.
Any student that certified before 2010 will need to take the Hand Reflexology one day workshop and the basic CPR certificate in order to achieve the 300 hours.
Any student with the 300 hr diploma and wanting to upgrade will need to complete the extra 200 hrs in order to achieve the 500 hours. Note that any prior training in any of the four extra modules will be credited provided a copy of certification is produced.
Once a student is certified, and obtains public liability insurance, they have the option of joining a well renowned Association in order to network with other practitioners and keep up to date with what is happening in the Reflexology world.
The one we recommend is ACART which stands for Atlantic Canada Association of Reflexology Therapists. It is based in Nova Scotia but encompasses the whole of eastern Canada and was formerly known as NSARP. Please check out www.nsarp.org.
From 2017 Footsteps will be launching a 500 hour Diploma course which will be the first in Canada. This will give students a broader knowledge and entitle them to join other associations. More and more associations are now demanding that their members are able to demonstrate that they have undertaken a 400 hour or 500 hour training programme before they will accept them as members. This is being driven by the insurance companies but it does mean that Reflexology will be included more and more in people’s health benefit plans.
Completing these extra 200 hours is not mandatory for Footsteps students, it is a personal choice. The 300 hour Diploma course is very successful and will continue as before but it means that we are leading the way by offering other modalities to enhance what we already offer. Some of these courses will be on offer during 2016 in preparation for the launch of the 500 hour Diploma course on 1 January 2017.
Any prior learning of any of these modalities will be subject to consideration before inclusion in the extra 200 hours that are required.
The following courses being offered from October 2016 will make up the 200 hours for those students wanted to upgrade to a 500 hour Diploma.
Acupressure 100 hours $750
Reiki 60 hours dependant on the individual teacher for Reiki I and Reiki II
Nutrition 30 hours only $280
Business Start up 10 hours $180
